How Ben Settle “10x-ed” my brain…

I’m playing a new game.
It’s called: “10x My Books”.
It’s a bastardization of a tip I learned from Ben Settle.
He said, “Pick a book that matters to you. Read it 10 times. It’ll make you smarter. And it’s probably the cheapest education you’ll ever get.”
I’m paraphrasing, but that’s the heart of it anyhow.
Here’s how this is playing out in my life:
I’m in the middle of packing for a move.
Downsizing.
And lots of stuff has to go.
So.
During Rounds 1 through 4 of “Book Shelf Clean Out”, 4 boxes of books got donated. Then 2, then 3, and on Round 4… a measly 1 box of books went bye-bye.
Then I looked at the books that were left… and I thought about Ben Settle’s words of wisdom, and I heard this thought in my head…
“If you aren’t willing to read it 10 times, why do you own it?”
And that’s when it got serious.
Books started flying off the shelf into the donation box.
Because, if you’re only going to read it once or twice… and maybe “save it for reference”, then that book has got to GO.
Really.
Because your brain is the Reference Zone. If that book matters to you, if those ideas are important, then install them in your brain.
Pronto.
Especially…. doubly especially, if you sell to a certain type of buyer.
I’m thinking of Teach Me buyers.
If you don’t know your material cold, if you can’t dash off your ideas in a quick, hard-hitting, get-to-the-point email or sales letter, then they won’t buy from you.
Because there’s a big difference between knowing who your ideal buyer is… and talking to them in an ideal way.
Think about someone you love. Do you know her favorite things?
Would you purposely offer her something she hates? Or worse, offer her something she loves in words that she ignores?
Of course not. That would be weird.
You need to know who your buyer is, and you need to know how to talk to them.
Are you buyer curious?
If you’d like to know who your ideal buyer is, we can sort that out in about 15 minutes by Skype. It’s a free consultation. There’s no obligation. Click here to reserve your spot.
