Homeless at the library?

I just pulled into the parking lot of my local library.

It’s 50 degrees outside.
The air is leaking lazy drips of moisture.
It’s as if the sky can’t decided whether to rain or spend the day pouting.
As I put the car in park, I see something move out of the corner of my eye.
It’s a dirty navy blue sneaker… and it’s attached to a sleeping man.
Heavy winter coat pulled up over his face.
Head and shoulder resting on an army-green duffle bag that bursts with dusty treasures and looks as comfortable as a bed of rocks.
He wriggles his body, sits up, and stares out at the drippy rainy day…
… because, by now it is definitely raining.
You can almost hear him think, “Holy cow. It’s going to be a long day.”
And I wondered: “In a life where nothing ever changes, what do you do with the time between the ‘sleeps’?”
Do I have a moral to this story?
Not really.
But possibly this: Notice what you notice. Notice WHO you notice. Then write directly to them.
This homeless man is probably not your ideal client, but what if he was?
What does he look like?
What is he thinking about?
What is he going to do next?
And this important thought: “How do you know for sure, that he’s not your ideal buyer?”
Maybe he used to be an ideal buyer.
Or maybe, he’s the ideal buyer for a certain type of product… like a virtually indestructible duffle bag… or a winter coat that wears like steal.
You know your business best. You know your products, your services, and the solutions that you bring to the world.
But I have to ask: “Do you know who your ideal buyer is?”
Would it help you to know exactly who wants to buy from you, and exactly how they like to buy?
That’s how I help. I match businesses to buyers. Think of me a a matchmaker service, but only for businesses that want to build long lists of steady, happy, loyal repeat buyers.
If you’d like to know who your ideal buyer is, we can sort that out in about 15 minutes by Skype. It’s a free consultation. There’s no obligation. Click here to reserve your spot.
