“His mom rejected him at birth…” [the Lamb Story]

My friend, Kim, runs a backyard farm called, “the not ok corral”.
No caps. No punctuation. No hyphens.
Why?
Because using bad grammar to name things is… not okay!!!
And that’s funny, because Kim is funny.
And it’s honest, because Kim is raising 4 special needs kids… and in many ways, they are not okay.
So it’s meta. And cool. And therapeutic.
And that’s how my friend rolls.
So, at this weekend’s Wool Festival, she met Plop.
Plop is a slightly dented Navajo Churro sheep.
His eyes droop.
His horns are deformed.
His fleece is mottled black and white.
And his mom rejected him at birth by dumping him in the “used hay” pile in the back of the barn.
The owner was going to sell him for meat, because Navajo Churro fleece is scratchy (even from the best lambs).
It’s really only useful for rugs, and even then it rips up your hands when you work with the fibers.
Here’s why I’m telling you this story:
Kim is an “Entertain Me” buyer.
She rescued Plop from becoming lamb pie, because he amuses her.
She has no idea how she’ll care for that sheep.
She hasn’t even told her husband yet.
There is NO plan.
And that’s how she likes it.
It feels fun to her.
The owners of Plop told her every reason she shouldn’t buy him. And with each reason, she became more certain he was the sheep for her.
Things will work out for Kim; they always do.
But I’m wondering: Are you giving your buyers enough reasons NOT to buy from you?
This is super important if you sell to Entertain Me buyers.
They love a bit of a challenge mixed with a bright dose of fun.
Make sure you give it to them. 🙂
